I feel heartbroken seeing a hungry child lying or wandering on the street with no sense of hope. It hurts to see others hurting. Sometimes, one cannot do much, but at other times one cannot stand there and just watch the hungry/diseased child die. I have always had that caring class of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something about it. Being an orphan, I’ve come to identify with the afflictions of orphans and it’s been my heart desire to help them redefine their lives by being the light in their lives. I think that’s what we should all do. We should all have a deep awareness of compassion for children, and it doesn’t take much to do this. The cost is only a compassionate heart. Having compassion will put smiles on their faces and brings out the best in them. Someone smiled on me and that is why I am smiling big today. Being there for them helps them to be free. But you know freedom does not come freely. It’s very expensive to be free. In order to be free we have to love ourselves and the people God has positioned in our lives. Have a little compassion. It can go a long way.
I meet with orphans each and every day. To help them look forward to the future, I share my story with them. I imagine a great tomorrow not just for myself, but for the orphans around the world. You see, it’s been my dream to give hope to the hopeless, and to fulfill this dream, I keep my faith in God close to my heart. It is true to say, “Faith without works is dead.” So I do my best to be an example to the kids who have been bitten by bitterness, sorrow, pains and sufferings. Being an orphan myself, I have felt the pain of their sting. I knew the size of their shoes; and for this reason of compassion, I dare to be a voice for the voiceless. I know good and well not every child will get the opportunity to stand tall despite his/her challenges. Yet I say, “Not one child has to go unnoticed.” I truly believe that even in ashes, there is hope. I wake up each morning expecting God to use me in a great way. After all He woke me up, so I know I have a purpose! Therefore I do not work hoping to receive an award. In fact, I have never received an award for the things I do, but I am pleased that I have touched many lives. My mission is far from complete and to be honest, I need YOUR help. Yes you! Just think of the difference we can make together! Let’s keep HOPE alive.
Love is Eternal. We cannot revolutionize the world if we hate one another. Love will take us to places that hatred cannot. We need to love and to be loved if we want to change the world. Love is the energy that propels us to nurse back to health the broken hearted and the wounded soul. I have never done anything without love. I fell in love with encouraging orphans right from the day I came to the reality that I was one of them. For me, I saw it as a calling, to love the hurting and care for the perishing. Because tomorrow is not promised, we must love. Because we don’t want to repeat yesterday’s mistakes, we must love; and for the splendour of tomorrow, we must love. No one was born to be hated. No one was born to be unloved. We were all born into a lovely society, although it can be detestable at times.Nevertheless let’s not mock the orphans. Let’s love them just as we love ourselves. Come along with me on my journey and announce to the whole world that, “Being an orphan does not make you worthless.” Heed to this calling of Love and Today, if you see the broken soul, the sick and the poor. Open your heart, extend your hand and together we can make this world a better place.
